Events

LAPCAE brings Louisiana's adult education community together throughout the year — for professional development, recognition, awareness work, and the statewide conversations that shape the field. Our annual conference is the largest of these, but it isn't the only one. Deadlines, board and committee meetings, Adult Education and Family Literacy Month, and the events where LAPCAE shows up alongside other organizations all appear below.

The Annual Conference

Three days each fall, and the one time the whole field is in a room together. Sessions led by Louisiana practitioners, statewide recognition at the Awards Luncheon, and the hallway conversations that are half the reason people come.

COABE 2027 Comes to Louisiana

April 11–14, 2027 · New Orleans
The Coalition on Adult Basic Education brings its national conference to New Orleans, and LAPCAE is hosting!

There will be no LAPCAE state conference in 2027 — this is where Louisiana shows up instead.

Louisiana programs are strongly encouraged to submit proposals and present. This is COABE’s event; registration and program information are on their site.

Professional Development

Between conferences, LAPCAE offers virtual sessions and membership meetings. In 2025 we held a fall Professional Development and Membership Meeting online; more are planned for 2026–27. Every LAPCAE member also receives COABE membership, which includes more than 50 national webinars a year.

Awareness & Outreach

Each September, LAPCAE observes Adult Education and Family Literacy Month — a statewide push to make this work visible through municipal proclamations, open classrooms, and learner stories.

LAPCAE also shows up where decisions get made: the Louisiana Municipal Association conference, the LCTC Annual Conference, and other venues where adult education needs to be in the room.
