Founded in 1975, the Louisiana Association for Public, Community and Adult Education (LAPCAE) is Louisiana’s professional association for adult educators. Its members are the instructors, program coordinators, and regional and campus-level administrators who deliver adult basic education, high school equivalency (HSE), English language, and workforce-readiness instruction across the state.

LAPCAE is an independent, member-driven nonprofit led entirely by a volunteer Board of Directors elected by its membership. It is a professional association, not a state agency or a college system — a distinction worth making plainly, since LAPCAE’s work sits alongside, but separate from, the Louisiana Community and Technical Colleges (LCTC) and its Adult Education network.

LAPCAE brings its statewide network together through an annual conference now in its sixth decade, ongoing professional development, a peer-recognition awards program, and regional and statewide channels for members to share resources and build partnerships across the state’s adult-education system.
